If you’re staying stateside and not jetting off anywhere this summer don’t fret, the city has some pretty cool stuff to offer. So what your  homegirls may be parasailing in the Maldives. You may not be near the Indian Ocean but you can jet-ski on the lovely Atlantic ocean…or on the  rivers  surrounding NYC ….regardless of location it’s still jet skiing. For the folks that are stuck in the same summer  routine …happy hours, day parties, and rooftops, try stepping outside of your comfort zone a bit and try some of these activities .

We  present the first edition of our Summer Guide-Summer in the City edition . Starting with time sensitive material first:

EAT DRINK BE MERRY

June 18-24| Malaysian Restaurant Week   in the Tri-State area

I don’t have to say much …$20 for a prixe-fixe menu of Malaysian sells it self.

June 30|  Taco and Tequila Festival

If you’re like me and you love Mexican food and tequila  then you might want to attend liquor.com’s exclusive Tequila and Mezcal grand tasting. Have your hand at over 2 dozen tequila and mezcals, endless guac and tacos from my fave Dos Camino (hands down they have the best guac in the city. Don’t debate me).

 YE’

Kanye West at Revel Resorts  on July 6 & 7 (tickets go on sale on Fri. 6/21)

This is Ye’s first solo show since  Coachella back in 2011. The last time I saw Ye’ in concert was Glow in the Dark tour and it’s the best money I ever spent on a concert ticket. You’re going to get an amazing production, and Kanye doing Kanye things like vent rapping about whatever is on his mind. It’s like his twitter rants but with autotune, orchestra backing, and sick engineered beats. Besides I’m sure Jay and the Good Music Family will be there to perform a few songs.

Now on to the stuff that you have until Labor Day weekend to take advantage of

CITY ADVENTURES

Kyak.…in Brooklyn for FREE

Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Saturdays 10:30am-4:30pm and select Thursdays 5:30-7:30pm

Check the calendar for a list of dates and times. FYI the lines can get long so you might want to get there early.

Trapeze… get into some Cirque du Soleil type activities at the Trapeze School

Jet Ski…if you can’t make it to clear blue waters for a vacay jet skiing on the Hudson, or the Atlantic (read Coney Island ) is a decent alternative.  I won’t recommend wearing a two piece. Put on a wet suit you never know what may be  lurking in these waters… I kid I kid

Jetty Jumpers offers 3 tour packages:

  • 3 hour tour starting  from Coney Island taking you  to the city and back
  • 1.5 hour tour of Brooklyn
  • 1hr tour of Coney Island
Hear that Gun Talk  at the  Westside Rifle and Pistol Range

It’s been  a year since I stepped foot on Westside Riffle and Pistol Range. If you’re a newbie to rifles have no worries because the staff is pretty friendly. Before you hit the range you’ll have to sit through a quick shooting and safety lesson. You’ll learn how to load a .22 and then you’ll hit the range, load up your magazines and let off some steam.  The only thing that sucks about this range is that you can’t use handguns unless you’re registered owner. (Wear long sleeves. I made the mistake of wearing a tank top when I went… flying shells grazing my skin…no bueno)

Stay tuned for the next installment of the Summer Guide. What’s on you summer bucketlist?
